The next major background cause of the first world war is nationalism. Nationalism is when a country feels great pride and identification with one's country. This made people want to fight and protect their honourable pride. This poster is representing nationalism for Britain. It uses the British flag and large text. The persuasion of recruitment is to try and stop people from making excuses to join the British empire. Since Canadians were under the British empire they wanted to help their allies out and show nationalism in their decision.
