Introduction

John McCrae's medals, hidden from the public eye for many years, are now on permanent display at McCrae House National Historic Site in Guelph, Ontario. Following the Boer War (1899-1902) and World War I (1914-1918), thousands of medals and medallions were given to Canadians to honour military service. The medals shown in this tour have a special significance: they were awarded to the author of In Flanders Fields, one of the most widely known poems of the First World War.
