This is John Haviland Routh b. 1841, and Father, L.Col. Haviland Le Mesurier Routh b.1810.L. Col. H.L. Routh raised the 5th Battalion Royal Light Infantry which subsequently became the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada (Blackwatch) with his own money during the Trent Crisis of 1861. John Haviland Routh was the first adjutant of the regiment and ultimately attained the rank of Major.
