Keys to History:

The Canada Life Building, on St. James Street, was built in 1895. Like the New York Life Building, on Place d'Armes, it was one of the very first skyscrapers in Montreal. With its remarkable stone facing, it was one of the first Montreal office buildings with a steel structure. Beside it looms the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Building, built from 1907 to 1909 on the site of a beautiful office building from the 1880s.
