Calgary is the largest city between Winnipeg and Vancouver (population 78,000). Situated on the Bow River, it is a flourishing industrial and agricultural centre, the junction point of the main line of the Canadian Pacific with lines running north to Edmonton and south to Lethbridge and the headquarters of the Company`s Department of Natural Resources, which administers all the Canadian Pacific land, mineral and timber interests in the West. It has also, in the Ogden shops, the extensive Western machine shops of the Company." Excerpt from "ACROSS CANADA BY C. P.
