Keys to History:

This mausoleum, dating from 1864, does not seem to have been used for A. E. Montmarquet himself. However, his wife, née Bernard, was laid to rest there in 1884. The other graves suggest matrimonial ties with the Merrills. In addition to inscriptions in French, many English inscriptions can be seen in the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery, usually indicating Irish graves. Italians, Poles, Ukrainians and many others, Catholic and Orthodox, would later join them and contribute to the cultural diversity that now characterizes all the cemeteries on the mountain.
