Description:

"Of the many improvements in matters affecting our social advancement, none have done so much towards the civilization of mankind as those which afford the means of abridging distance as measured by time. The frequent intercourse between the various centers of civilization, and the constant interchange of ideas thereby rendered possible, have done more to promote the social advancement of our race, to remove prejudices and national antipathies, and towards the realization of the sublime behest, 'ON EARTH PEACE, GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN,' than anything else since the first dawn of Christianity".
