Southwest

The Southwest geocultural area is located between the Rocky Mountains and Mexico's Sierra Madre. Here and there it passes over the Great Continental Divide, that is, the border between the watersheds of the two large river systems of the Colorado-Gila-San Juan, in the west, and the Rio Grande-Pecos, in the east. The Southwest area encompasses southern Utah and southern Colorado as well as New Mexico and Arizona.

Groups such as the Hopi, Zuni and Apache live in this geocultural area.
