This selection of approximately 100 images is made up of views, plans and maps of the city of Montreal at different stages in its development. The representations evoke specific places, streets and sections of the city. Among the artists who created the paintings and engravings, or prints, seen here are James Duncan (1806-1881), George Heriot (1759-1839), Richard Dillon (1772-1856), Robert Auchmuty Sproule (1799 -1845), Philip John Bainbrigge (1817-1881), William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854), John Richard Coke Smyth (1808-1882) and John Henry Walker (1831-1899).
