This selection of approximately 190 images provides a sample of the collections related to the social movements active from the years 1840. It bears witness to a number of collective actions aimed at solving social problems, reforming institutions or improving working conditions, among others.
- Campaigns against poverty, disease and poor sanitation in cities, to promote temperance (towards alcool), and for the pasteurization of milk, etc.;
- Struggles to overcome discrimination against women;
- Labour unrest and union actions;
- Cartoons depicting strike actions.
