Notman, William McFarlane

William McFarlane, the eldest son of William Notman, was born November 1, 1857. He became a partner in the company in 1882 before inheriting it outright on the death of his father in 1891. He named his brother Charles (1870-1955) a partner in approximately 1894. William McFarlane died May 1, 1913.

Starting in 1884, for 15 years, William McFarlane Notman travels the West, taking photographs of its splendours. The CPR supply him with a rail car equipped with a darkroom.
