Heriot, George

George Heriot (1759-1839) was one of the most important landscape artists in Canada in the 19th century. The civil servant, artist and author came to Canada in 1799 and served for a time as deputy postmaster general. But his greatest contribution to Canada was as a landscape artist. His drawings and watercolours provide many details on life in Canada during that era.
