Canada enthralled English artist Charles Jones Way throughout his long career. During the mid 1800s and again in the early 1900s, CJ Way found inspiration in everyday activities of Canada's people and in the beauty of her land. True to his British academic training, he diligently reproduced visual details of his subjects, yet with a clarity and originality that set him apart from other painters of the time. Of all the elements that define Way's work, several are notable: his rendition of the atmosphere, masterful arrangement of focal points and love of the colour blue.
