Chateau Frontenac was built in Quebec,Quebec in the early 19th century by the Canadian Pacific Railway. It was named after Louis Buade, Count of Frontenac,who was governor of New France from 1672 to 1682 and 1689 to 1698.It was developed to act as a stopover for CP travelers travelling to eastern canada from the west.It was built along with Chateau Laurier in Ottawa to provide travelers with two oppourtunities to rest on their voyage.
