The Golden Age of Sail

New Brunswick Museum

The cry of "There she goes!" rang out repeatedly in the 1800s as the great wooden ships were launched from New Brunswick's many shipyards. These ships were world-famous for their craftsmanship, speed and solid construction. During the "Golden age of sail" their billowing canvas was seen the world over, as they helped make Canada a key player in the international shipbuilding industry.
