At the launch of the First World War, Canadians were urged to provide assistance to Great Britain. It was hoped that this call would convince people to guard and protect the honor and future of the country. But you may ask why people were lining up to volunteer to go to a war which seemed to have so little to do with them? Why people were anxious to send their sons and daughter to war? The answers and possibilities are endless; I will be discussing my opinion on why people did what they did in 1914.
