People may think, why on earth would Canada feel obligated to drag itself into a battle fought primarily on a distant continent, when the Canadian front was not under attack of any sort? Why, would Borden, seemingly uncaringly, send thousands of men, and older boys across an ocean to die for a war that seemingly did not have anything to do with them? Why, after committing these heinous acts, would he treacherously break his oath, and force those unwilling to go risk their lives in a land where stillness does not exist, where land is torn, shredded, molested by exploding artillery shells. Where disease, and vermin run over soldiers, both living in dead. Why? You may ask. This tour will give you insight into Sir Robert Borden's mind, his reasoning, the war, as well as Quebec's violent reaction to conscription being mandatory.
