Following the death of Sir George Simpson in 1860 the HBC North American trade was reorganized. The depot at Lachine was closed. Frances Anne Hopkins's husband was re-assigned to the Montreal office and they moved in summer 1861 to No. 5 Prince of Wales Terrace, Sherbrooke St. Montreal.
