On 28 June 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sofia were on their royal tour through Sarajevo when Gavrilo Princip a young member of the terror organization Black Hand started shooting at them. Both of them died immediately.
Historian called this the spark that started the war.
Over 600,000 Canadians volunteered for war.
But why did so many people volunteer?
Firstly because of patriotism and nationalism.
Secondly, because they needed money.
Thirdly because they wanted to support their families.
Fourthly because they wanted to get recognition from the people.
Fifthly there are way more reasons.
