Mary Chiasson - Canadians Get Ready for War (September 2017)
Many Canadians risked their lives to serve for their country, women and men, young adults and old. There are many reasons why people would risk their lives, but the three main reasons are patriotism, conscription, and lack of money. Patriotism for their country made them wanted to defend their mother country in the oversea war. The reason of conscription gave difficult times to Canadians, as they were leaving their families. (wife, kids, parents) Lack of money was also a big reason for enlistment in the war, because Canadians were not very well off money-wise, and enlistment gave them enough to provide for their family.
