The Depression in Canada
A Depression occurs when there is a severe decline in business activity accompanied by increases in unemployment and bankruptcies and decreases in production and wages. Canada experienced just that during the Great Depression between 1929 and 1933. During this time it was said that 1 out of 5 Canadians was dependent on government relief for their survival. It is also said that our country, Canada, was one of the hardest hit during the Great Depression.
