Keys to History
Beginning in 1847, St. Patrick's Church accommodated the Irish Catholics of Notre Dame parish. By 1896, Montrealers of Irish origin had many parish churches, but St. Patrick's remained their mother church, like Notre Dame for Francophones. The Irish also had special ties with Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, to which they made annual pilgrimages.
