Keys to History
An important tourist brochure from 1897 presents the elegant little Richelieu Hotel, on St. Vincent Street, as one of the best in the city. The great Sarah Bernhardt had stayed there a few years earlier. This neighbourhood had many small hotels around Jacques Cartier Square and Bonsecours Market. The port was nearby, as was the big central market.
