Keys to History
Built in 1885 and refitted in 1892, the Balmoral Hotel was on Notre Dame Street West, between the central business district (today's Old Montreal) and the Grand Trunk's Bonaventure Station. Like the Queen's, the Balmoral had reasonable prices and provided a complete range of services, boasting, for example, of offering hot and cold water in all its rooms... and electric lights, a first in Canada!
