Keys to History

1916. Pie-IX Boulevard, in the industrial town of Maisonneuve. In the spirit of the promoters, the development of Maisonneuve was based on international avant-garde principles in urban planning, which called for reining in the chaotic growth of cities. Wide boulevards were laid out at the same time the first motor vehicles were appearing, and remarkable buildings were erected, while the new typical working-class houses were tightly regulated. Maisonneuve would be absorbed by Montreal in 1918.
