"VICTORIA BRIDGE JUBILEE: As we come down the River into the harbour of Montreal we pass under the central span of the Victoria Jubilee Bridge. This replaces the tubular structure erected by the famous English contractors, Brassey, Peto and Betts, to the plans of Robert Stephenson, son of the famous George Stephenson, inventor of the locomotive. The original masonry piers are still in use."

Excerpt from "CANADIAN GEOGRAPHY & ECONOMICS: The St. Lawrence River" (Lecture A.4 and A.11); booklet, McGill University Illustrated Lectures), about 1930.
