Keys to History

In 1859, anyone looking west from the towers of Notre Dame Cathedral would see downtown Montreal and Notre Dame Street stretching away from them. Next to the Cathedral stood the Vieux Séminaire, a Sulpician seminary. Further off, numerous businesses had set up stalls on Notre Dame Street, which was then the place for retail commerce.
