Keys to History

On December 17, James Hodges invited 1 000 people to cross the Victoria Bridge by train to celebrate its inauguration. In the north abutment, to which the guests repaired after the crossing, long banquet tables had been set up. At the end of the meal, numerous toasts were raised and these were followed by music composed for the occasion and interpreted by the orchestra of the Royal Canadian Rifles.
