Keys to History

According to a brochure from the Windsor Hotel, Montreal had sixteen Presbyterian churches in 1890, including two in close proximity to the hotel. All Presbyterians attach great importance to the structural organization of their community, which calls its pastor and its representatives. In 1894, the Erskine Presbyterian congregation, of Scottish origin, opened an impressive church on Sherbrooke Street. This image dating from 1930 shows this church shortly before its amalgamation with the American United Church.
