Lafontaine Park was created towards the end of the 1880s, on a huge site that had formerly been used by the military. Ponds were added around 1900. In this photo taken a few years later, the trees were still young. By 1907, the park was a huge success. A concession rented boats. Originally on the fringes of the urban growth area, it would quickly become an integral part of Montreal.
