Keys to History

In hockey, Montreal had three high-calibre amateur teams in the 1880s and 1890s: the McGill team, which pioneered hockey in Montreal, as well as the clubs of the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association and the Victoria Rink. In 1895 and 1896, the Montreal Victorias were the best team in Montreal and in the country, and they would win the Stanley Cup.
