"CAPE ETERNITY: Here you see the towering height of Cape Eternity. The Saguenay is a wonderful river. Rock cliffs tower 2,000 feet above it and its waters are 700 feet deep. It is not to be surprised at that the earliest explorers thought it was a pass to some country still unknown."

Excerpt from "CANADIAN GEOGRAPHY & ECONOMICS: The St. Lawrence River" (Lecture A.4 and A.11); booklet, McGill University Illustrated Lectures, about 1930.
