"FISHING AT PERCE: Perce is a great fishing settlement and most of the fishing is done in small ships just off shore. The people are partly Acadian French, partly canadian French and partly Channel Islanders and partly English. As a result the local dialect is a wonderful mixture."

(Excerpt from "CANADIAN GEOGRAPHY & ECONOMICS: The St. Lawrence River" (Lecture A.4 and A.11); booklet, McGill University Illustrated Lectures, about 1930.
