David Ross McCord acquired a number of original caricatures dating from the 18th century that are among the oldest executed in Canada. Following his example, the McCord Museum is an enthusiastic collector of humorous drawings created by the leading political cartoonists of Canada's illustrated press among them Aislin, who is the author of nearly 3,000 original works included in the collection. Aislin has been editorial cartoonist with The Gazette since 1972. Here, he shows Canada trying to bandage the wounds inflicted by the constitutional crisis of the late eighties.
