At first sight this is a simple wooden suitcase, but once opened it turns into a portable desk. This ingenious case contains two candlesticks to be fixed on the top of the desk when working in poor light, as well as various writing implements. Travelling desks like this one were used by all sorts of people, from commercial travellers adding up their profits to journalists writing up copy for the next article.
