This rare Mi'kmaq baby's bonnet, made of silk and finely woven cotton, was lovingly decorated with beads and embroidery. From a very young age, Mi'kmaq children learned about the world through myths and stories, which taught them the characteristics of plants and animals and their relationship to human beings. By listening to these dramatic and often humorous tales, children learned the history, customs and ways of their people.
