Keys to History
Is all the time people spend on computers having an adverse effect on the quality of human relationships? It would certainly seem so, judging by the look on the face of this young man, who seems annoyed by the fact that his partner is more interested in her computer than in him.
This cartoon highlights the expanding place of computers in Quebeckers' daily lives. It also jokes about couples' relationships and the role that women are now playing in society and the job market.
Computer technology is enabling a growing number of people to work from home. This new reality, which is already having an impact on the labour market, may well lead to a redefinition of relations between employers and employees.
Laptop computers became popular consumer items in the 1990s.
