Keys to History

Molson's mausoleum, built in 1863, includes three similar vaults (only one is visible in this photograph taken in 1866). These are the vaults for the families of the three brothers, ringing a monument in the shape of a lighthouse, erected in memory of John Molson Sr. and Sarah I. Vaughan, the parents. In this case, the architectural affirmation of the dynasty overwhelms the rural character of the setting.
