"Bridge over the St. Lawrence.- This important project is now taken up in a way to ensure a practical result. There can, we think, be no doubt whatever (sic), that it is a necessary appendage of a railroad to the eastward; and that, in whatever shape it be accomplished, it will be incomplete, as respects the city of Montreal, unless connected with it so as to ensure its use at all seasons of the year, and more particularly at those when the transit by water is nearly, or altogether, impracticable."
