"(...) It is cheering to view the blowing off of the steam, and hear the whistle of the engines - and the novelty of a train starting almost from our wharves, for Houston and New York in midwinter, leads us to consider what may be yet in store for Montreal. We understood that the buildings erected on the opposite shore, are of a superior description, and will repay the trouble of a visit. The Company have opened a good winter road, directly across, and purpose (sic) in a very few days, to run all their trains to St. Lambert.
